Chip in for Girls

Save the date for the 26th Annual Chip in for Girls Golf Outing! Join us at Harborside International Golf Center in support of girls attending our Sports & Leadership Summer Camp.

Since 1995, Girls in the Game has provided a foundation for girls to develop physical, mental and emotional strength. Since our founding 30 years ago, more than 65,000 girls have started the journey to become strong, confident women, beginning with the support, guidance and opportunities provided by Girls in the Game. We give girls the tools they need to become whatever they decide. We help them develop confidence in the person who matters most-herself. We know from research and from girls themselves that Strong Starts Here.

Chip in for Girls 2024 Program Book

For 29 years, Girls in the Game has been an organization that consistently challenges itself to better meet the needs of girls. This summer, girls ages 7-13 will join us Monday through Friday for full days of sports, health and leadership rotations. Girls will learn to understand the importance of team building, they will have the chance to try different sports, and they’ll learn how to communicate and manage their emotions. They will have the chance to work with guest coaches from sports teams, volunteer groups from corporate partners and, most importantly, be coached by current teen participants and program alumnae, allowing younger girls to see the types of leaders they can become if they stay with Girls in the Game.

Girls in the Game summer programs are more than just sports. More than exposure to new role models and future career paths. More than a first trip out of the city to try canoeing, rock climbing or zip lining. It’s about showing up every day for yourself and for your team, and learning from everyone around you. It’s about not being afraid to try new things and being open to what else you can tackle when you discover your courage. It’s about setting goals and fighting through challenges with determination. In fact, that is what we are working to develop: the next Determined Nation.

We know this work won’t end at the end of this summer, or even with the three-year plan, but we also know that these steps will help us create an even greater Determined Nation in Chicago. And with those new leaders being developed in that time, who knows where they will take our lessons, our drive and our belief in girls?

Field of Dreams 2025 Gala Program Book

Back in 1995, the founders of Girls in the Game likely weren’t thinking about where they would be in 30 years. Instead they focused on delivering programs that offered opportunities for around 100 girls to learn sports and the lessons that come with it.

Those founders probably never imagined when they held their first Field of Dreams anniversary event in a gym, serving hot dogs to people in running shoes, that 30 years later they would welcome more than 500 guests to the Intercontinental Grand Ballroom on Michigan Avenue. They wouldn’t have imagined professional videos, high-caliber honorees, or that, in those 30 years more than 65,000 girls would take part in Girls in the Game programs.

Instead, they focused on the work that was ahead of them with determination. That one word is the very thing that can transform an idea into an action that will change lives. And those lives changed aren’t just the ones of the girls who have come through programming. It’s the lives of volunteers, Board members, school partners, and staff members. Because it takes all of these people to grow something as long-lasting as Girls in the Game. It takes not just determination, but a Strong Starts Here.
